More Changes on the PTR

Yep, lots of new changes and different ways to look at stuff. Which, of course, means some of my notes from the last 2 days are out dated. I’ll write up more this weekend (and likely we’ll have a new Patch by then too!). To echo Matticus’s point, these are the TEST realms, so be ready for a lot of changes… and frequently. Stay tuned. PTR 3.1 Notes – Holy

Yesterday we discussed the Discipline changes, today we will go over the Holy Changes that are currently up on the PTR. I did make some edits to my post from yesterday regarding Rapture (forgot to mention that Aegis doesn’t return mana anymore) and Focused Will (gives a total of 12% crit with all talents). Skills Prayer of Healing is now a targeted spell that heals the target’s party.Nice, since I always ask to have myself moved to the MT group for Loetheb. Handy dandy. Conclusion: Buff Holy Nova mana cost reduced from 27% base mana to 22% base mana.I should spend some time crunching the numbers seeing the HPM with this with and without glyph. Could be quite handy. Conclusion: Buff Hymn of Hope: This spell has been removed.Confirmed that …

PTR 3.1 Notes – Discipline

I am going to do this in phases, first I am going to take a look at the Discipline Tree first. Skills Divine Spirit is now a baseline spell.Well I have to admit, I am a little surprised. Blizzard said they never would do this, as they wanted a Spirit buff to be a reason to bring a Disc Priest to a raid – even though Disc isn’t very Spirit Heavy. That at least frees up the talent point. Conclusion: Buff Abolish Disease: Now cleanses a disease every 3 sec, down from 5. Duration reduced from 20 seconds, down to 12 sec.Prevents 1 tick of the disease in between Abolish’s tick. It’s nice that they are now in line with each other. Game changing? No, but still technically a buff. …

3.1 Pre-PTR Preview

We’ve been given some interesting glimpses into 3.1. Let’s talk about those a little bit… First and foremost, Divine Spirit is baseline. I have to admit, I gave up on this spell as becoming a baseline spell for all priests ages ago. Currently I am Discipline spec’d and the only reason why I have regular DS is because it cost only one point, even though Spirit is fairly useless to a Disc Priest. If they somehow find a way to make Improved DS worth putting 2 points into it, then we can talk. The allusion to this new Discipline spell: Power Word: Barrier should be interesting to see. Blue likened it to a AOE/Party Wide Power Word: Shield. It seems interesting, however I am curious of the overall practicality when …

Saving Kel’Thuzad’s Life!

As reported on World of Matticus, you apparently CAN save KT’s life. While the actual effectiveness would be very tough to test, its certainly important to be aware of. HA! Don’t miss a single post! Remember to sign up for my RSS feed.

Add On Corner: DiscRecount

First, apologies for the lack in posting lately. I have had a busy work week and then couple in some personal stuff that queued up. That being said, it is time for another Add On Corner! This time I want to highlight a fantastic Discipline Priest AddOn, DiscRecount. This mod is developed by Para11ax, who essentially modified Recount to be able to add Aegis mitigation and Power Word: Shield to effective healing. This mod replaces your existing Recount, and provides a fairly accurate way to see how much mitigation a Disc Priest can actually provide. While I do know many healers typically do not like meters, it is important to have a general understanding of how you are doing with your shields and it gives you an interesting perspective on …
