A Quick PowerAuras Update for ICC

I’m really slacking in my posts lately & I do apologize. Work has the unfortunate consequence of getting in the way of my personal shit, and Derevka is making me look bad because all he does is sit in his posh office all day, sipping lattes and writing articles while engineers like me have to put out the fires people like him create.

Anywho….these are a collection off PowerAura import codes I’ve been using for ICC. I have a bad habit of running in the door 5 minutes beore a raid starts and asking Derevka for an import code, because 98% of the time, he’s already made what I’m looking for. I also borrowed some from many of my DPS playing guild members that, while I personally don’t use as a priest, my alts appreciate.  So I’m positive many of you can benefit from them as well in one way or another. And yes, it’s an easy way to get Derevka off my ass for slacking in posts lately. Refer to the first paragraph for the reason.

As you know, we’re a big advocate of the Addon PowerAuras . It’s extremely customizable for almost any action in the game, and a big help in conquering the dreaded “Healer Tunnel Vision” issue. If you’re not familiar with how to set it up, Derevka made an excellent video tutorial explaining & demonstrating the basics here .

One of the MANY benefits of using PowerAuras is the ability to export and import your custom created warnings, and it’s so simply even a Death Knight can do it (Let’s take bets on how much DKP my guild leader docks me for that one). To access your PowerAuras control panel type “/powa” – from there, you can create your own, or import the codes I’ll be giving you here. Simply copy the code string given, open your Powerauras control panel, click “IMPORT” (note: DO NOT use Import Set) & simply paste your code in. The only thing left to do is test the code you just imported – make sure the visual cue is not currently positioned over any other warnings or mods, and adjust the color/look/sound of your visual cues – if you’re importing, it’s probably been set up for somone else’s style.

Bati over at Holy Nova Now! did a similar post on the benefits of Power Auras in ICC. The following are very important to have, in our opinion – no matter what your role.

Mystic Buffet

I always think this sounds like some sort of Paranormal Restaurant. In Phase 3, this buff will start to stack on everyone – the only way to clear it is to LOS behind an ice tombed player. This will warn you when you hit 5 stacks, and should start looking to stop what you’re doing and clear it. Note that we have it set for 5 – you may wish to adjust that number based on what you feel is needed. Beyond 5 stacks on the raid seemed to get unmanageable for us.

A less important one. Chances are, your raid frames already displays this in some form, but can be more helpful to DPS players that tend to not watch frames as zealously as we do

Those are some of the biggest ones we use. I know alot of people out there scoff at the idea of yet ANOTHER mod warning them and shitting up their screen, and claim they don’t need it, but no matter how good you are, sometimes it gets difficult to track everything in the middle of a fight, ESPECIALLY as a healer. I actually fought it as well for a bit, but once you try it, it’s hard to ignore it. I have the attention span of a gnat, and when I see giant flashing icons and sounds blaring at me, it’s usually a pretty good indicator that something is going on on the raid I should pay attention to….or the cops are after me, but that’s a different story.

  1. Super nice. Thanks for the great additions to my power auras.

  2. Some really usefull auras there, thanks.

But, I was wondering, which priest ones you use for disc?

Currently as disc I only run PoM/Borrowed time.

Whereas holy, I’d have quite a few more.

  3. As far as Disc specific ones, I have one for IF, PoM, & my 4Pc T10 Proc. BT isn’t really needed for me- I’m constantly casting as a tank healer, and the second I see WS fall off my target, he’s getting another shield. My BT is spent before I can even think about it. Even if I’m not healing the tank, it’s nature to shield first.

For Holy, I have a HC, SoL, PoM, IF, CoH. You could run one for GS if you felt is was needed, but I have a specific mod (Guardian Spirited) for priest related cooldowns such as that, PI and PS.

If you are looking for the exports of those codes, let me know.

    1. I would love it if you could provide the codes that you use for your holy spec please!

      Thanks in advance,
      Chloe

  4. Do you have anything for Emerald Vigor during Dreamwalker?

  5. Certainly! Any specfic ones? Check out an earlier powa update Derevka did as well – let me know if that gives you what you need, or if there was something specific you needed

    http://talesofapriest.com/?p=85

    @Joe ego

I’m sorry I meant to get that emerald vigor to you, and my fantasic attention span struck again. If Derevka sees this before I get home, I’m sure he’ll post it, otherwise I’ll be sure to add it tonight.

I have some great holy pally ones too, if anyones intersted.

  6. Thanks. I keep checking by just in case :)

I was having a really hard time keeping stacks up on Valithria. That 5sec increase made a huge difference. Keeping Beacon & Judgement haste active Valithria is huge and I’ve gone whole hog on secondary gear, macros, etc.

  7. How about one to track the Emerald Vigor stacks on Dreamwalker?

  8. OOPs apologies I should have paid more attention to the posts.

  9. Try this. I have NOT tested it on Ava, since I stay out, but it works on my druid.

Its setup for a leftside display, with a stack counter in the center and a timer on the right. as always, adjust for your UI

  10. I tested these tonight on Heroic mode. It works.
    Nice job.

  11. These are excellent, and I’ve passed them on to my guild. Thanks very much! <3 PowerAuras.

  12. Imported the normal mode aura and it tests OK. During the fight, however, I’m not getting anything. Going to play with it a little more next week, but the 5second nerf makes it a lot more forgiving.

  13. This update for powerauras is awesome. I am not a priest but rather a rogue and utilize these power aruras to no end. I was wondering if you would happen to know one for Defile on the LK that would pop up something before he cast it on a player such as the frost tomb power aura. Also on Heroic version of Putrcide one that pop up if you have his nasty Debuff! I have been messing around with the defile one but have yet to come up with one. Keep up the wonderful site!

    1. Sorry just saw this – most of those I have covered by DXE &/or my raidframes, but I think we can make one. If I don’t post it in a day or so, email me to remind me.

  14. Hey there, just wanted to say thanks for a great post and also to cheekily ask if you think power auras could be gotten to show the following:

I play a resto druid and would like an aura to show up which only appears when my mana drops below x% (say 70%) AND when my innervate is off cooldown.

I’ve been able to do an aura for each individually but really i just want one which pretty much pops up a big old graphic prompting me to use my inervate.

    Anyhow, thanks again

    Angthorn

    1. Oops sorry just saw this – you can string conditions in Power Auras ie Condition A will not display unless condition B is met. Let me get on my druid and work this one out and I’ll post it.

  15. Thanks alot for these :) . I’m a healer and on sindy during phase 3 I’m constantly screwing up with frost tombs when trying to frantically heal just about everyone at once. DBM’s warnings just happen too frequently and I end up tuning out the audible signals thinking it’s unchained magic on me not frost tomb… I set your frost tomb warning up with a different sound and I have no more issues. :D
