PTR 3.1 Notes – Holy

Yesterday we discussed the Discipline changes, today we will go over the Holy Changes that are currently up on the PTR. I did make some edits to my post from yesterday regarding Rapture (forgot to mention that Aegis doesn’t return mana anymore) and Focused Will (gives a total of 12% crit with all talents). Skills Prayer of Healing is now a targeted spell that heals the target’s party.Nice, since I always ask to have myself moved to the MT group for Loetheb. Handy dandy. Conclusion: Buff Holy Nova mana cost reduced from 27% base mana to 22% base mana.I should spend some time crunching the numbers seeing the HPM with this with and without glyph. Could be quite handy. Conclusion: Buff Hymn of Hope: This spell has been removed.Confirmed that …

PTR 3.1 Notes – Discipline

I am going to do this in phases, first I am going to take a look at the Discipline Tree first. Skills Divine Spirit is now a baseline spell.Well I have to admit, I am a little surprised. Blizzard said they never would do this, as they wanted a Spirit buff to be a reason to bring a Disc Priest to a raid – even though Disc isn’t very Spirit Heavy. That at least frees up the talent point. Conclusion: Buff Abolish Disease: Now cleanses a disease every 3 sec, down from 5. Duration reduced from 20 seconds, down to 12 sec.Prevents 1 tick of the disease in between Abolish’s tick. It’s nice that they are now in line with each other. Game changing? No, but still technically a buff. …

3.1 Pre-PTR Preview

We’ve been given some interesting glimpses into 3.1. Let’s talk about those a little bit… First and foremost, Divine Spirit is baseline. I have to admit, I gave up on this spell as becoming a baseline spell for all priests ages ago. Currently I am Discipline spec’d and the only reason why I have regular DS is because it cost only one point, even though Spirit is fairly useless to a Disc Priest. If they somehow find a way to make Improved DS worth putting 2 points into it, then we can talk. The allusion to this new Discipline spell: Power Word: Barrier should be interesting to see. Blue likened it to a AOE/Party Wide Power Word: Shield. It seems interesting, however I am curious of the overall practicality when …

3.08 Today – Preparedness

3.08 is launching today, and the hands-down biggest change that will affect priests is the COH nerf. I apologize for covering this over and over, however it is important to prepare. There WILL be fights that we will need to adjust, but lets see if we can address some of those. 1. Malygos – Vortex. You should be able to get 2 COHs out before the Vortex is over. Also you should be able to burn through charges of ProM. (and a couple of Surge of Light procs will be handy). Generally, if you have been farming Naxx25 you shouldn’t be in too rough of shape as your HP should be well over 20k. You take 20k damage (2k a sec, for 10 seconds) then 10% HP falling damage. Preemptively …

New and More 3.08 News

Looks like there is MORE news on 3.08 with a boatload of changes & bug fixes. So, time to recap the healing priest ones! Guardian Spirit: It is no longer possible for simultaneous killing blows to trigger the heal from this ability multiple times. Improved Holy Concentration: The tooltip has been rewritten to indicate that this talent reduces cast time rather than providing haste. Prayer of Mending: Will now only benefit from the healing talents of the priest who cast the original spell. Rapture: This talent will now correctly return mana for Power Word: Shield based on the caster’s mana pool instead of the target’s mana pool. Surge of Light: Prayer of Mending will no longer sometimes cause Surge of Light to trigger on Priests who do not have that …

3.08 Incoming – Impact Forecast

3.08 did not hit today and we are now likely in the final days of PTR testing. Time to recap the impact to the Priest Community. I am not going to go over every little change that could possibly affect us, just highlight the ones that seem to have a bigger/unique impact to PVE Healing: Titansteel Guardian – Spellpower reduced to 457 (from 490) to match iLevel. Now could be the time to farm Nexus if you are considering crafting this mace, or if you haven’t found a replacement in Naxx. Levitate now castable on others. People who can’t jump on Thaddius will be signing your praises here. Just be sure to hit them mid jump. However, a Mage’s slowfall might be a better option here since you can’t jump …

More on Circle of Healing, Cooldowns, and Regen

An in-game friend of mine commented on my last post, and had a lot to say. I’ve got his permission to post this and make some commentary. /love Bhoz It brings some quality insight to COH that I might have missed mentioning in my previous post. “1) I’m already much more involved in my healing than pre-WotLK (well, pre-3.0 patch). If a CoH proccs Surge of Light or Holy Concentration, I’m automatically looking for someone to get the free heal. Or I’m hitting Inner Focus if it’s up (for some extra OOFSR mana regen), then looking for a target for the free heal. I’m actually tracking my PoMs a lot tighter now, to make sure I’m getting the T7 bonus extra jump. I’m trying to find 8 seconds of down …
