Why I think the T10 4 pc set Bonus Change Blows Goats

Rarely has a change aggravated me as much as this one does. I’ve seen other classes get all worked up when a desirable set bonus gets ‘reworked’ into something less desirable, but I’ve always viewed that frustration from a distance. Unfortunately, not this time. To review, the current T10 4 pc set bonus looks like this: Your Circle of Healing and Penance spells have a 20% chance to cause your next Flash Heal cast within 6 sec to reset the cooldown on your Circle of Healing and Penance spells. According to the latest patch notes, it’s being changed to this: Priest Tier-10 4-Piece Healing Set Bonus: Redesigned. This bonus now increases the effectiveness of the caster’s Power Word: Shield and Renew spells by 5%. (source)

3.2 PTR Part 1 – Prayer of Healing Changes

The PTR notes have been posted, and I am sure they will change at least once, twice, several times. So let’s approach these changes with the perspective that, in all likelihood, we’ll be seeing several changes in these notes before they actually go live. With the flurry of posts, forum topics, and guild chat discussions about 3.2 I figured it was about time I put my 2 copper in on this topic. I’ll be doing analysis over the next few days putting attention on each of the major changes. Today I want to focus on the changes made to Prayer of Healing. Prayer of Healing: The percentage of spell power this spell gains in healing (per target) has been reduced from 80.7% to 52.6%. The Prayer of Healing change screams …

Val’anyr: Loot Assignment Woes

Legen… wait for it…. dary! Orange Loot! Not purple epics… Orange Legendary! Now that we know through many sources that Val’anyr is going to be a Legendary Healer Mace, many guilds need to start thinking about how to distribute this mace. When deciding if you are going to use a /random 100, lifetime DKP totals, pure DKP, or loot council, here are some considerations your guild should weigh while making the decision. General considerations – Attendance – Not only because Val’anyr is a legendary item, so you want a person who will be using it often, but also due to the fact that it requires 30 Fragments of Val’anyr. What you don’t want is the person who is getting it to be missing Fragments because they missed a bunch of …

My Musings on Val’Anyr

Matticus wrote up a post about his thoughts on Val’Anyr here. While concise and generally accurate, I tend to have a different opinion. First it is important to know that both the Fragments of Val’anyr AND the Shattered Fragmenets of Val’anyr (30 combined shards) are BOP. The combined version is a quest item, which leads to to start of the actual quest. Step 1 – Ancient History This quest is clearly only Druid, Pally, Priest, Shaman, which requires you to bring the quest item to the Archivum Console in Ulduar. From there you get the final quest Step 2 – Val’anyr, Hammer of Ancient Kings This is the quest that requires you to “throw” the item into Yogg’s mouth, on heroic mode, while he’s casting Deafening Roar, defeat Yogg-Saron… to …

3.1 Priest Specs – What are You Doing?

Well, it seems that 3.1 is imminent. Coupling the fact that the PTR realms are slowing down, the patches on the PTR are getting smaller and smaller (the last patch was teeny) with the fact that the downloader seems to be finished, we may will have it as early as next week (4/14). However with the move of Noblegarden, it does confuse me. My bet is 4/21. All classes will have their Talent Points refunded, which means its time to respect. And for most of us: Dual Specs. While some of us will be going Healing/Shadow as our specs, I do think a good many priests will be going Holy/Disc, giving them the ability to swap specs mid raid to adapt to whatever healing assignment they are given. Derevka’s 3.1 …

PTR Trinkets, Trinkets, and More Trinkets!!

Yes, I know I’ve been MIA for a couple of weeks. I have had a LOT of crazy stuff going on at work, so I apologize for not writing up some stuff. Hopefully I didn’t lose many readers, but I guess my Google Analytics, comments feed, and Feedburner stats will show me that happened. But today I want to take a look at the PTR Trinkets that are out there. Spark of Hope Even with the Spirit nerfs, this is a nice little trinket for the Holy Priests and Druids out there. Then, add in Blessing of Kings, and its even better. The on equip is quite nice too, a flat reduction in your spell costs… even though it doesn’t scale. Definitely a trinket sought after by many holy priests …

More Changes on the PTR

Yep, lots of new changes and different ways to look at stuff. Which, of course, means some of my notes from the last 2 days are out dated. I’ll write up more this weekend (and likely we’ll have a new Patch by then too!). To echo Matticus’s point, these are the TEST realms, so be ready for a lot of changes… and frequently. Stay tuned. PTR 3.1 Notes – Holy

Yesterday we discussed the Discipline changes, today we will go over the Holy Changes that are currently up on the PTR. I did make some edits to my post from yesterday regarding Rapture (forgot to mention that Aegis doesn’t return mana anymore) and Focused Will (gives a total of 12% crit with all talents). Skills Prayer of Healing is now a targeted spell that heals the target’s party.Nice, since I always ask to have myself moved to the MT group for Loetheb. Handy dandy. Conclusion: Buff Holy Nova mana cost reduced from 27% base mana to 22% base mana.I should spend some time crunching the numbers seeing the HPM with this with and without glyph. Could be quite handy. Conclusion: Buff Hymn of Hope: This spell has been removed.Confirmed that …

PTR 3.1 Notes – Discipline

I am going to do this in phases, first I am going to take a look at the Discipline Tree first. Skills Divine Spirit is now a baseline spell.Well I have to admit, I am a little surprised. Blizzard said they never would do this, as they wanted a Spirit buff to be a reason to bring a Disc Priest to a raid – even though Disc isn’t very Spirit Heavy. That at least frees up the talent point. Conclusion: Buff Abolish Disease: Now cleanses a disease every 3 sec, down from 5. Duration reduced from 20 seconds, down to 12 sec.Prevents 1 tick of the disease in between Abolish’s tick. It’s nice that they are now in line with each other. Game changing? No, but still technically a buff. …
